Hello world!

As a self-confessed Geek I know that it is vital to the continued existence of the Universe to start anything new with a ‘Hello World’, so here it is. As it happens it’s also a most suitable subject line for the first post in this new blog. I have a number of other blogs which I regularly write, but they are on specific subjects and I am expecting this to be anything but specific and probably un-grammatical to boot.

We – me, my wife, our cat and my mother-in-law – moved to Lymington a lifetime ago, although it may have only been four and a half years. The first three from London, the MiL from a retirement home along the coast.

To say that life is different here is stating the blindingly obvious. It’s not just that there is less traffic, well not outside the holiday season anyway, but the whole ethos is different. We have got used to the socialising between the staff and customers in shops whilst we wait in line to pay for something we just dashed in to get. In fact on a visit back to the Smoke, we finally realised what the rest of the country has been talking about when describing London shop staff as uncommunicative. It’s funny what you get used to.
